Cloud Architect Specialist
Since gaining experience in grid computing working to support an experiment at the Large Hadron Collider – the largest scientific endeavour in the world – Tom’s been passionate about large-scale distributed computing. He’s worked alongside collaborators from dozens of countries to facilitate distributed computing design, reliable operations in minimal staff environments and interoperability between grid, cloud and HPC based solutions. Tom Fifield was the architect of the Australian University research cloud, NeCTAR <http://www.nectar.org.au/> , and now shares his architecture consultancy role at Aptira with his role as the Community Manager for the OpenStack Foundation <http://www.openstack.org/>
Tom holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons), Software Engineering from the University of Melbourne.
